Bee friendly at the Cuckfield Local Market

One of the Cuckfield Local team members presents the latest addition to the local Food Market table, the ‘Bee Friendly to Pollinators’ tea cloth. The Market is the perfect place to visit on the second Saturday of the month to buy delicious food for the weekend, poultry, game, bread, a wonderful variety of local cheeses and fresh vegetables from Laines Farm at the south of the village. Set in the courtyard of The Talbot, an old coaching inn, friends meet and chat making the general market ambiance a great addition to the shopping experience.

Now in its sixth year. If you’ve not yet visited – you’re missing a treat! The next market will be held on Saturday 8th October.

Angus Rowland Forget Me Not walk - Sunday 2nd October 2016

The Angus Rowland Forget Me Not Walk has become a popular tradition in Staplefield attracting hundreds of fundraisers who enjoy a Sunday morning walk (or run) in the glorious Sussex countryside.

This year, the event will take place on 2nd October, starting at 9am from Staplefield Village Hall. It’s the sixth annual walk to be organised by the family and friends of Staplefield student Angus Rowland, who died in 2011 from Acute Myeloid leukaemia aged just 14.

Over the years, supporters have raised thousands of pounds for Bloodwise (formerly Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research) organising and taking part in a range of events and personal challenges.

Walkers/runners can turn up on the day and have a choice of two routes - a 6.5 mile walk on muddy rural footpaths or a one mile walk mainly on roads. Registration at Staplefield Village Hall will start at 9am for the walkers and 10am for those who wish to run. The organisers suggest a donation of £10 per adult and £5 per child.

Dogs are welcome but must be kept under control as they may encounter livestock along the walk. Refreshments will be available at the village hall throughout the morning - so if the walk doesn’t appeal why not pop in for a cuppa and cake?

Why is repeat advertising so important for your business?

By David Tingley, editor, Cuckfield Life magazine

One-off advertisements don't really work. I mean, sometimes they do, sure. But generally they don't! That's the reason why we recently stopped selling small, one-off placements in our family of three community magazines (Cuckfield Life, Lindfield Life & Hurst Life) - because feedback suggested that it wasn't good advice for our customers.

Here is local marketing expert, Rebecca Jabbar (Strategic Marcomms), who explains what she thinks about why it makes good sense to advertise repeatedly...

What we want our customers doing is spending money on GOOD, EFFECTIVE advertising that gives them new customers consistently, so that THEIR BUSINESS GROWS and they tell lots of other businesses about how worthwhile it was ADVERTISING in our community magazines.

That is our aim and that's just what we strive to do. Talk to us about advertising in Cuckfield Life today...
